Morning Devotional 111021 Rejected, but Saved!

Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

November 10, 2021

Read Psalm 118:21-25

21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. 22 The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; 23 the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. 25 Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success!

Good Morning! Let us rejoice today and be glad!

You’ve all heard the saying, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Consider the imperfect, broken beings that Jesus calls to follow him, also known as, all of us. Thanks be to God! Unlike the builders who reject a stone because of its imperfections, God creates in us new beings through the Holy Spirit working within us.

Through our transformation, which is often slow and methodical, the rough edges are smoothed with compassion, the cracks are filled with love, and the weaknesses are filled with strength. Remember Peter’s struggles when he denies his Lord, not once but three times, and when he sank into the water as his faith waivered. Jesus proclaimed Peter to be the rock upon which he would build his church.

Our Lord is mighty! We are the church created by God who makes all things good! Jesus, our Lord, was rejected by his own people. Yet, through his resurrection all who call him Lord are saved. This is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Loving God, Thank You for loving us. May we too accept those who are rejected by others. Within the rejected lies great strength. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God can use what others reject to change the world.

Rejoice! Pastor Liz
