Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
November 2, 2021
Read Titus 3:1-7
1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. 3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Good Morning! Praise God and Be Blessed!
I chose a different passage to look at this morning. As we approach election day, I am ready for the campaign season to be over. I quickly become weary of the negativity that the campaigns bring. May everyone go out and vote and be peaceful.
Paul calls all believers to follow God as he reminds us that we too, are sinners. We were once part of the chaos that dots our TV screens and social media. Christ came to save us from ourselves, to pull us from the mud, and to give us new life. God chose to save us because God is merciful. There is nothing that we can do to earn our salvation.
Through Christ’s death and resurrection, our sins were washed away. We are called to respond to our fellow beings with mercy and to do good! Fixing the world in its current state seems impossible. Only through the grace and mercy of our Lord do we possess the strength and wisdom to be the change.
Loving God, Thank You for loving us. How do you look at your children and not walk away in disgust? You are an awesome God! Help us to share your love and mercy with the world. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Be brave and let the light of Christ shine through you.
Shine for Jesus! Pastor Liz
Amen!!
