Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

Luke 18:15-17
15 People were bringing babies to Jesus so that he would bless them. When the disciples saw this, they scolded them. 16 Then Jesus called them to him and said, “Allow the children to come to me. Don’t forbid them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people like these children. 17 I assure you that whoever doesn’t welcome God’s kingdom like a child will never enter it.”
Good Morning! Jesus loves the little children!
As adults, we sometimes limit children. In my early years as a teacher, I learned that when we encourage children, the possibilities are endless. Let's be inspired by the joy of rediscovering the childlike faith that sees nothing as impossible. Children have not yet developed the cynicism that fills adults' thoughts with what they can’t do. For children, nothing is impossible.
As a new music teacher, I was teaching my elementary children to sing a song with two-part harmony. An onlooker said, "Second graders can’t sing harmony." Because I didn’t tell them that singing in harmony was too hard for second graders, they didn’t question their ability to do it.
Children are ready to tackle the challenges of the world. They see the world as a place of wonder with great discoveries hidden beyond every corner. Mature adults are so busy with the job of living life that they miss the miracles that lie before them.
Blessed are the children! May we open our inner child and be filled with awe at the beauty of God’s creation surrounding us.
Faithful God, Thank you for creating us. You created an amazing world for us. Help us regain the youthful eyes that see the possibilities that surround us. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
