Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  April 26, 2025

Psalm 37:3-11

3 Trust the LORD and do good; live in the land, and farm faithfulness. 4 Enjoy the LORD, and he will give what your heart asks. 5 Commit your way to the LORD! Trust him! He will act 6 and will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like high noon. 7 Be still before the LORD, and wait for him. Don’t get upset when someone gets ahead someone who invents evil schemes. 8 Let go of anger and leave rage behind! Don’t get upset—it will only lead to evil. 9 Because evildoers will be eliminated, but those who hope in the LORD they will possess the land. 10 In just a little while the wicked won’t exist! If you go looking around their place, they won’t be there. 11 But the weak will inherit the land; they will enjoy a surplus of peace.

Good Morning. Trust in the Lord and do good!

David is telling us to trust God in all things and let go of all things that separate us from God. Let go of anger; don’t get upset. Be still before the Lord! It sounds simple, but it's incredibly hard to do. Not only do we struggle with trust issues, but we also get angry when things seem unfair or wrong.

As children, we often whined, “That’s not fair!” Even if we don’t say it out loud, we still think it when someone cheats and lies their way to success. It is easy to find those about whom to complain, and if we’re not careful, we use all of our energy complaining instead of doing good and living a life of faithfulness.

Let go of anger, don’t get upset, and trust in God because in the end the wicked won’t exist and the weak will inherit the land and live in peace.

Loving Lord, Maker of all things! We see those who cheat, and we want to hold them accountable for their actions. Help us turn our anger over to you, so we have room for the peace you offer. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God blesses those who seek to live a faithful life.

Trust God in all things! Pastor Liz
